Arnie Greenberg profile

Arnie Greenberg is a retired professor and freelance writer. He holds degrees from both Concordia and McGill University, in Montreal. He taught in Montreal area schools for 37 years, 25 at Vanier College, in the Canadian Studies and Humanities Departments. His specialty is modern France with special emphasis on Paris in the 20s and the artistic circle around Picasso and Gertrude Stein. Concurrent with his teaching, Arnie wrote and helped produce over 1200 television programs for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, mostly for young people. He has written plays about Expatriates in Paris. One is Picasso: The Man Who painted Hell and another is Goddy: A Play about Gertrude Stein, Hemingway and Ezra Pound, set before and after the christening party of Hemingway’s first son (Gertrude was godmother) in Paris. The latter was produded at the Wilhelma Theatre in Stuttgart Germany. He has lectured publicly and privately in Canada, The USA, France, Germany and Italy. Since his retirement, Arnie has been actively involved in operating a tour company and now takes groups to Europe each spring. It started with Hemingway’s Paris and now incorporates all of France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Thailand, Austria, Hungary, Portugal and the Czech Republic.His France tour for 2004 is scheduled for June 2nd & goes from Paris to Barcelona.But there still time to write, which is Arnie’s passion. He writes for three travel journals on a biweekly basis in France and California. He has two works in progress, The Glory Years, an ongoing project and Double Deception is now complete. It is about the forgery of Picasso's Portrait of Gertrude Stein.His more recent novel takes place at Hautefort in France and details the life of De Vinci in Amboise, France where the artist died .(A Man of Taste) This past June, Arnie retired from the "Travel" business and is devoting his time to writing travel related articles, and a new novel about a Detective in Montreal circa 1970. He and his wife will continue their travels with Argentina his next location. He has started a new web site that deals with Where, when and how to travel.
