Camille Chevalier-Karfis profile
Born and raised in Paris, Camille lived in Boston for 16 years and has been teaching today's French language for 19 years to adults around the world in person, by phone and through Skype.
When asked why she has a passion for teaching adults, she answers, “Each student is different. I find it fascinating to study how people learn, what teaching tools really work and how to reach each individual. There is much more to learning a language than just the language. My students make me progress, as a teacher of course, but also as a human being.”
Repatriating to Brittany, France, in 2008 to be closer to family and to practice a balanced lifestyle, Camille created French Today, offering original audio novels and audio courses based on the adult student needs and interests, and written and recorded using the modern French language.
She is the author of several easy audio novels, À Moi Paris, une histoire au présent, À Moi Paris 2 and Une Semaine à Paris, a traveler’s guide with a novel twist, as well as many other audio lessons on grammar, modern pronunciation and vocabulary. French Today features more than 100+ hours of audio recordings and contributes free audio resources to the French learning community including a beginner’s audio novel, 40+ classical French poem readings and audio blog posts.
Camille regularly returns home to Paris, where she relishes sharing a meal with her family and childhood friends at un bon petit restaurant and eating dim sum in the 13ème.
When asked what she misses most about her life in Boston, Camille says, “My friends, customer service and ethnic foods.”
