Plume Plume - The Romantic Accessories Shop
Been missing the exquisitely romantic lately? Plume Plume is just the eye candy for you. (And oh so French!)
The exterior alone will grab you. A corner store, painted in that soft French blue, with the old-fashioned painted Boulangerie sign at the top. Then you scan the windows and your eyes just stay. Accessories, purses, scarves, boots, gloves, umbrellas don luscious colors of soft pale pinks, light custards, melting celadons, sweet blues. You've got to go inside!
The interior will hold you forever. Open only since the end of July 2005, this store has the promise of becoming the Ladurée of Accessories. (For those of you who don't know Laduree, make sure to visit their store in the 6th for their famous Macaroons.)
This store isn't like the dime-a-dozen accessory stores all over Paris, where hunks of the same sort of jewelry fight for space with the same sort of Pashimas, ad nauseum.
Plume Plume has the kind of jewelry you coveted as a small child... the kind your stylish single aunt, who had scores of men following her, wore all the time - romantic braclets and hair clips and whatnots. One perfect example: a pearl necklace with a delicate calla lilly flower, that has smaller pearls spilling out from the center... and yet, the necklace remains simple in presentation.
Plume Plume has scarves that flow, have texture, have melt-in-your-mouth colors - scarves you feel you could wear or use to dress up your bed, your windows, your tables, your love seats. Ah, yes, a love seat... with you on it, wearing another Plume Plume scarf... perhaps reading a book, perhaps....
Plume Plume has boots meant to be noticed. Boots made by Muzzi. Blush colored suede cowgirl boots with cut out beige flowers. Beige colored suede cowgirl boots with cut out aqua colored flowers. These boots were made for... being removed so your toes can be kissed!
Then the coup de grace (because you will die from the desire of wanting these)... the Chantal Thomass parapluies. Think Renoir, think the Tuilieries in the 1800's, think ahead and save up to purchase one before you head back home. Stripes, polka dots, swirls, frillies, colorsssssssssss.
And before you leave, look up at the ceiling. The ceiling is a S.W.A.K. on the back of the envelope (Sealed With A Kiss). A sweet blue mural with birds and bells and flowers.
This is a highly recommended must-stop store for your next Paris trip.
