Confessions of a closet Parisian…
I don’t know if it started when I first saw Claude Lelouch’s “A Man and A Woman” or when I first sampled escargot. All I know is that this all American gal has always fancied herself a well heeled Parisian. Okay, here’s the kicker, I only know Paris from books and movies. So when my husband agreed that we could spend our 25th anniversary in Paris (10 glorious days), I regressed to the Truffaut obsessed teenager.
I surfed the net in search of everything Parisian and I finally convinced my husband that
an apartment was the only way to experience my hometown. That’s when my headache started. I had no idea that there were literally thousands of apartments offered by grandmothers, Professors from Wisconsin, French companies, husband/wife teams, just about everybody had a store front in the Paris apartment mall. I was instantly turned off by the amateur sites. And I knew that I wanted to contact someone in the States not in Paris. I also wanted to deal with a company not an individual for security reasons.
As I was flipping through the Harvard Alumni magazine , I noticed a sexy ad for Paris Luxe Apartments. I immediately visited www.parisluxeapt.com and was blown away. Hooray, they were New Yorkers, friendly and fast. I immediately began receiving apartments to review. Some of the apartments were to die for but out of my budget yet there was one apartment in St. Germain Des Pres that was mine. Okay so it was $75 more a night than I wanted to spend, but who can argue with a pristine view of the Eiffel Tower and the rue de Cler market around the corner. Paris Luxe apartments book quickly since they only represent upscale to luxury apartments so reserving months and I don’t mean two, more like six months in advance is recommended.
So, if you’re anything like me and you judge a site by it’s cover checkout Paris Luxe Apartments and save yourself a dose of frustration.
