    This photo, taken 124 years ago this week, shows the Eiffel Tower under construction in 1888. Nicknamed 'la dame de fer' or 'the iron lady', the tower was built as a centerpiece for the 1889 World's Fair.

    May Day in France (known as 'le premier mai') is the official spring holiday, as well as being ‪International Workers' Day‬. The tradition is to buy a small sprig of 'muguet' (lily of the valley) for your loved ones. On Tuesday, muguet venders were ready at every busy corner and Parisians on the go carried bunches of delicate white flowers on their way home.

    The last few weeks here in Paris have been full of rainy days, so a few minutes of blue skies are treasured moments. After a photo shoot near Gare de Lyon, I walked towards Bastille and shot some photos of la Colonne de Juillet (the July Column) that centers Place de la Bastille just as the sun was starting to set.

    Many consider the grand Ferris wheel at place de la Concorde by the Tuileries a fixture, but it will be removed again on February 19. It's a huge attraction that will surely return one day, but for now, it's a good thing BonjourParis photojournalist Clay McLachlan snapped this photo of la grande roue one evening not too long ago.
