I'm always trying tapes. I had some success (especially with my accent) with

As for Berlitz -- I suspect it's a function of your dedication and that of the teacher. Not to mention, continuing with the lessons and speaking ... A FOREIGN language is WORK for some of us! Heck, so is English!

Scott,

Having learned French in school and in France, I don't have experience with Berlitz or other programs, but if you go down to the bottom of the page and click "go" on Education, schools, classes. . . you'll see "Learning French" about three topics down the page. That was a recent thread that might give you some direction.

Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone? I've seen it advertised and have always been curious. Or other suggestions?
I am planning to have an extended stay in France this spring, and would like to gain as much competency prior to leaving the U.S. Any thoughts of various programs in France would also be appreciated as well!

Does anyone have any experience with the Berlitz programs (in the United States, not France). I am looking into the total immersion, individual or small group programs (most likely the one of the first two). I took French in High School for 3 years and have been stumbling around on my own spradically since then. The Berlitz courses are quite pricey, but are they worth it?

Thanks!
