Congratulations on getting a new location in the States, Pat! smile.gif I bet you are so happy that you will be able to see your daughters more often. You'll have to let us know what things you miss about France, once you are back in the States a while. Whenever you have time, I'd love to hear the ways you think living in France changed you and your life... the good and the bad. Here's wishing you a smooth and happy transition back to your home land! smile.gif
PitterPat, Yes it is a good idea to sell all your Euro appliances, You won't meally miss them. However we all will miss YOU, so keep up with BP, and keep sharing with us all your valuable experiences you obtained in this experience packed year and a half!

BP Chuck

P.S. Check out if you can take meat products (not canned) with you to the US. US Customs or Agricular Inspection may confiscate it.

The deal is done! Hubby got offered the job back in the states!!!! We'll be trying to arrive in our new home by June 1st. Where might that new home be? hahaha West Virginia... college town... northern border with PA (where they still have all their teeth rolleyes.gif ) Morgantown!

Chuck... you're a dear. I'm selling all Euro appliances. My computer will be happy to be back on regular electricity, and not working through this transformer. Computer I fried was a lost cause! sad.gif

I shall miss France.... very much so! But, I miss my girls more, and so being back in the states is a good thing. I'll cherish every fresh piece of bread, cheese, fruit, vege and more, that crossed my tastebuds! I plan to bring back as much of the good things that I can, barring any bans from the customs folks... Fortunately, I now have a friend who is a customs agent, and he's coaching me along! cool.gif

Will keep you all posted, and will be sure to check up on all of you, regularly!

One of the many blessings we've experienced has been THIS group! Thank you!!!

PitterPat, I do not want to remind you of bad events, but uou do want to check out your computer (I do not remember if you got it repared or replaced) that it will work on 115 Volts and 60 Herz, when you go back. You do not want an re-occurance of last years unfortunant events (Low voltage can also damage a computer, and so does the wrong cycle current.).
Incidentally check all appliances you may have bought in Paris (or anywhere in France) if the work on 115 Volts (and if electronics are involved) on 60 Hz. If not, you may want to leave them for your Friends. (or save tjem for your next trip?)

Can you believe we moved to France in mid February of LAST year! I can't believe it's been a year now. I know I've been a serious slacker to the forum, but there just wasn't much to write about, or maybe I've not been in the right "mood" to post..... We were not expecting the Paris job to disintigrate under our feet, but are very thankful Clermont came through for us. It's a great bunch (English speakin') of folks down here.

I've been building a website, and have added a blog to it... will post it for you to check out, soon. Because I've wanted to show off pictures of the places we've seen, and things we've done, I couldn't bog down Karen's server with images.

Glad to hear your daughter will be studying abroad. It's sure to be THE most memorable experience of her life. I know it was for our youngest daughter, when she studied abroad in Florence, Italy.

Anyway.... wherever we land up... Yorkshire, West Virginia, Illinois, or God knows where, I'll continue to check up on you kind folks. wub.gif

No, Pat, it's really hard to believe it has been that long! Time has just flown by! I remember when your daughter came to visit you and when your Sis came to visit you and her feet her so badly! (Wasn't that your Sis, or was it your close friend?) Where does the time go?

Be sure to give me your blog's address so I can visit. smile.gif That will be nice. Glad to hear that your daughter's experience in Italy was wonderful. I'm really happy for my daughter to get this experience. I'm so glad that she is getting to travel to different parts of the world while she is young. It really does change the way a person looks at the world she/he lives in.

Good luck with all of the changes going on for you and your husband right now, and please stay in touch with us whether you are in France or not. Hey, I don't live in France and look how I hang around blink.gif biggrin.gif So, you can't leave us either rolleyes.gif
I allways like to think Positively, and hopefully everything will turn out to the best. However you also shoul be prepared for other eventuallities. In other words, be prepared for the worst, but hope for the best. This naturally leaves you lots of room inbetween, and this is where you have to thin positively, and work toward that end. Look at it this way: you were in Paris and France for over a year. You had many fine (and some not so fine, but still interesting experiences. Nobody can take away thos experiences and memories. Think of how many people there are wou would have given anything to have had your experiences and Memories (Yes, with a caital "M".

Keep thinking Positively!

Pitterpat, It's only a new beginning, so dont' be sad. The Film, "My Night at Maud's" will remind you of Clermont
So sorry that you have to move, PitterPat. I know that relocating when one hasn't planned on it is difficult.

While you and I haven't "talked" here on this forum, I want you to know that I have enjoyed reading your posts.

I look forward to your blog.... I hope that your new location turns out to be just the right place at just the right time for you all smile.gif
Thanks for the well wishes, Al and Chuck...

Pat....sorry to see you go. One consolation, the job is steady if not the location . Good luck to you all.
Pat, I know you are glad that you had your time in France, even with all of the hassles and difficult times. Your memories for you, and your daughters, will be remembered forever. It has been so nice for all of us to have you share your experiences with us. So, I'm trying to remember, Pat, exactly how long has it been since you left the U.S. to go to France? Even your recent move to Clermont seems like yesterday....... time just flies by! Good luck with figuring out the next move and so sorry your beloved Ruby must be quarantined.
Pitterpat, this is sort off unexpected and, I belive, sad news. You really contributed with your experience (good or bad) to this board. I think all newcommers to Paris (or France) did learn a lot from your posts. When you get back to the US (or any other country) I hope you will continue with your participation, now as a seasoned resident not only in Paris but also in Clermont! And remember in the remaining few month things may change, and you may stay in France.

BP Chuck
Well folks.... looks like our time is coming to an end in France. Hubby's job in Clermont will end in the next few months. We've thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, experiences and FOOD in France, but I want to say that had we not moved here, I'd have never met all you wonderful folks!

We're not sure "where" we're headed to next, but it looks like we could be moving back to the states. We'd hoped to move to England, so hubby could return "home", after serving the church for 30+ years, away from Yorkshire. Ah, well....

So, now I'm researching a reverse move, and am not happy to find that my beloved Ruby (African Grey Parrot) will have to endure a MONTH of quarantine! UGH UGH UGH

Will keep you all posted.
Much love
Pitterpat
