The "C" line has two forks, the southern one, C7, that gets you out to Yvlines, and the northern one, C5, that ends about a Km from the Chateau. Make sure you check the panneau on the platform to verify which train you are getting on. On a hot, muggy summer day, the tree-lined avenue is not too heavily traveled, and is a pleasant stroll north to the chateau. About half-way there, there is (or used to be) a discount wine store on the west side. I picked the C5 up at Metro St Michel. but there are several stops as it goes westerly on the Rive Gauche, so check out a map to find the one most convenient to where you want to enter. Watch out for stops that are missed during the rush hours. If you take the southern fork, you can still get off at Versailles-Chantiers and take a bus right to the Chateau. Perhaps some of the expats can fill in the gaps from what I said. On that same tree-lined street, I have actually found parking on several occasions, and am not sure if that was a series of miracles, or because the tour busses don't park there.

Ursula -- thanks for the update. That's what happens when you can't be assiduous about checking the FORUM. Thanks to you, I've changed the web Site address.
Vivent les double posts! mad.gif
In fact, c posted his question even THREE times in different forums!

Karen,
1. Carcassone is probably already IN Paris.
2. The topic has been discussed in depth here (c's other post)

Go to the international section and the site will give you up-to-date information about which metro or RER is traveling where -- or anyway -- we can hope!

Have a wonderful trip!
Will be in Paris in 2 weeks. The closest metro station from our apartment is Rambuteau. I know I need RER C (Rive Gauche) for Versailles. I would like to know what's the quickest way to get to RER C from metro Rambuteau. From the map, looks like I need to go the end of the line, Chatelet. From there, the closest RER C station is St. Michel but it's not clear to me how to get there. Do I get out of the metro and walk to RER? How long is that walk so is there some way to connect from the metro?

I'm asking help from locals because I've read that the St. Michel RER C station may be under construction.

We are arriving on Sat and want to go to Versailles on Sun for the fountains. So I'll like to get as much information before hand as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.
