I am well aware that I can delete a whole quote except the part I want to keep (if it is continuous). but I'm not disposed to go thru deleting a whole posting (if it is large) just to keep one sentence. I thought you might have had a secret weapon I didn't know about.

While I have you...on the previous format we were able to bring up postings not only from the past 24 hrs but also in time divisions up to a month.There was a button over the right side of the subject bar. Is there such a thing on the new format and where (if you know) is it located?

I would imagine one would have to copy and paste from the original posting which means one has to go back to the original post after posting since one goes to the new post with the original quote to be pasted. Also, before posting I don't see a space that is open to paste.Al

When I use a part of the quote from the message you wrote, I do as St Germain says, ie I simply click on "reply", and then, the whole of your quote "appears" in the window + your name/nickname and the date and time when you posted your message... The whole quote is in black and in the same font as the one I'm using when answering you...

I simply have to "suppress" the part of the quote I don't "want" to use, and leave the rest of the quote, then, I manage to have your signature and the "term" "quote" be placed at the end of your quote... I don't have to copy and paste anything or post and edit afterwards my initial post... Vous voyez ??? Cordialement. Marie

It is a special font and in a different color only because I clicked on the "quote" on the bottom right hand corner of your last posting. I do not copy and paste from the original post. I simply edit you post, as it is quoted, when I reply using the righhanded quote at the bottom of your post.

I'm confused. I do remember Mike telling us about the Clock. My French is not enough to understand what Marie added. I know the angel was upside down deliberately because the sculptor was not paid and it has only one "arm." Anything else?

You can do this this by simply editing the quote in your reply, before the reply is posted.

Marie.......I note in your posting of 22Jan that you have a "Wrap around quote" from Mike and even though it is a partial quote from his posting it gives his name,date and even timing of his post. I can do partial Wrap Around Quotes but cannot include the sender info that you can. It is only when I quote the entire posting that this happens.

Can you tell me how you do it?

Thanks for posting these links ! One of the main problems is the fact France's economy is not in great shape and finding a job presently is not easy... But other factors account for the recent outbursts of violence in our "banlieues". In case you are interested, here is the summary of what was said and written with the help of our English assistant in my "classe de 1ère S" (scientific class which corresponds to grade 11 in the US) :

Attempts at understanding the reasons for the riots which took place in Oct./Nov. 2005… (lesson with our English assistant)

- Group 2 :

"The riots which took place in France at the end of October and lasted for the first two weeks of November were sparked by the death of two boys who were possibly fleeing the police… Yet, the
reasons for this violence already existed before this event.

These riots took place in the impoverished suburbs (=outskirts) of Paris at first. Then these riots spread to the rest of France. Most of the inhabitants of these suburbs are from North Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria…). The first North African immigrants who came to France in the 70’s and 80’s were conscious of the fact the standard of living would be higher in France than in Northern Africa and they would be guaranteed jobs in France. But, in 2005, finding a job in France is less easy than in the 70’s and 80’s… And the rate of unemployment in the suburbs located around Paris and other French towns is quite high… Which must account for the feeling of discontent felt by the youth living in these suburbs. The rioters must be disappointed by the French government’s economic policy…"
