I hope there won't be any additional bizarre emails -- but I wouldn't count on it (:
Well, I guess your shuttle question just got us all inspired to keep adding on and keep the party going! laugh.gif

Cheers!
Hi Stacy: Your FAST reply was impressive and I thank you again for the clarification.
Over and out! Alex

Hello again Stacy (or whoever views this new post)

Today - May 9, 2007 I received two new emails with exactly the same content as that of my previous post, i.e. replies regarding a question I posed in 2004 about an airport shuttle matter. One of them is from Stacy and one fron ellencmog (again).

It's no big thing: I can continue to delete these "stutters" as they come in but I think it would be of some passing interest to BP that this is happening. I wonder how many other BP correspondents have experienced it.

Also I hope I have chosen the right "slot" to post this (BP Technical Issues and Announcements). In any case this will be my last attempt to notify BP of this "glitch".
Best regards to all. Alex Stansen

Alex,

This is not a glitch but a normal function of the board.

When you posted your original question, you checked the box to be notified of replies to that post.

The nature of a message board is such that often a thread is started on a certain subject, and it continues and may be added to indefinitely.

As far as I know, there is no way to undo your choice to receive notification of replies (if someone is aware of a way to do this, please let Alex know so he can choose to no longer receive those) and you will simply need to delete them or else set your email program to automatically do so.

Best regards,
Stacy

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my puzzlement. Your explanation is logical and I appreciate it but - three years interval??? Must be because I am not one of "the regulars".

Hello Alex,

Do you mean that you never received notification of the follow-up posts in 2005 and 2006?

Granted, your original post was in 2004, but it has been periodically added onto since that time, up to these most recent posts this week.

I don't think being a "regular" makes any difference in whether or not you receive notification... as you can see from the other posts here, some of the regulars apparently don't receive notification at all!

Best regards,
Stacy

Today - Apr.23,07 - I received 4 (four!) e-mails from BP notifying me that I had four responses to my message from Karen, Mary and "Nous y venons" - all posted in Apr and May 2004 !!! The exchange had to do with a comment I made to alert others of the lousy service I had received from one of the Paris shuttle companies. In 2004, for heavens' sake.

This had to be some kind of "stutter" of or by the server but I am intrigued by it and I wanted to bring it to the attention of the "powers that be" at BP. Best regards to all, Alex

Hello Alex,

I think I can shed some light on this. You got the messages because when you originally posted, you checked the box to receive notification when someone replied. (You probably already knew that) Today's new posts were made far apart enough in time that you got a separate email for each response.

When you click on the link to go to the reply, for some reason it takes you to the original page of posts... to get to the latest posts, you have to either click on page 1 or the little << indicator. I don't know why it doesn't bring the reader to the latest posts -- must have something to do with the board's software configuration.

Does that make more sense?

Best regards to you ~

If worse came to worse I could always go to AOL Email management and read my notifications.

Al: I would be ever so appreciative. I'm not receiving notifications either. A pain in the you-know-what.

Karen.....I made the report as per your suggestion.

I have doubts it is an AOL problem as all Spam that is rejected is put into a file and there is no such "collection" in my AOL spam file. If worse came to worse I could always go to AOL Email management and read my notifications.

Over the course of the years I seem to have my "notification" problems with the rest of BPers and the subsequent return to service with the others.

If you are NOT receiving posts (and alas, this may be an AOL problem), please send an email regarding the discussion board to:

support@bonjourparis.com

Thanks.

I don't get everyone's posts so I check in to see if anything new was posted. sad.gif

Are you sure they're not being blocked by your ISP's spam filter?

Absolutely sure. If so they would appear in the "blocked file" that AOL supplies.

Am I to understand that some of you people are receiving notifications....and me not??

I always receive them, without difficulty (except for one day when they were a bit slow to arrive, but that could have been due to any number of issues).

Are you sure they're not being blocked by your ISP's spam filter?

I have notifications in the evening when many post were made from the AM and only received one notification. But I'm not surprised at irregularities in notifications today as I did not get any.....NOR HAVE I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION EMAIL IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. I have asked the powers that b a few times when notifications will be happening again.

Am I to understand that some of you people are receiving notifications....and me not??
