I am greatly looking forward to meeting St.Germain this weekend. As for the future, we are always open to
having a larger get together or as Stacy suggested impromptu gatherings.

STACY......when you say "I hope you can round up some of the people who are there... and then do it again when I'm back in France, and Karen too! and anyone else who might be around." that is a standard that has been practiced many many times on BP. I have been to such GTGs at least three times. It's a matter of cooperation and taking the bull by the horns. This spring's trip to Paris by my wife and I was announced more than once for a GTG and never picked up. My own fault for no follow thru.

Yes, I've seen that come up here time and time again. I would be more inclined to do as you mentioned before, just pick a date and place and say "here it is, please join us if you can!", as (in theory, at least) it's easier to coordinate amongst the people already in France than to try to arrange something to accommodate travelers to France and the varying dates of their trips. Other than perhaps for the Get-Together to End All Get-Togethers, I can't imagine many travelers would specifically plan the dates of their trips for a BP "do".... (though I could be mistaken on that).

And maybe some of the little impromptu meetings will result in serious planning for a big GTG, who knows?
Al:

Get togethers take months to plan and many notices in the newsletter. However, there's NEVER anything wrong with impromptu ones.

The more the merrier.

Wouldn't it be easier if the ex-pats (and the main ones who post we all know) called each other and set something up and then announce the date and invite any other BPers who happen to be in Paris at that time. Otherwise, your August will soon be gone (if that's the criteria for a GTG).

Well, pooh, wait until I'm GONE to get together, waaaaah. I'm jealous too!

How about this Sunday, the 6th, for lunch?

Thre are so many people who live in Paris and were kind enough to write on the board or simply answer questions directly when we were planning to move to Paris. We would love to have an opportunity to meet you all. August is such a quiet time in Paris, seems like the perfect time to get together.
Any interest?
