I always found the 13 month escrow account excessive. But one month seems low to me. At the very least, I'd think that the first and last months' rent would be required. PLUS, a one month security deposit. Considering how difficult it is to evict people from apartments, the new law may complicate foreigners being able to rent digs in France.

Hey, maybe somebody realized that there are now 500,000 Frenchmen (and going up) now living just in the UK>
